Stand up paddleboarding is a new (ish) sport that is set to make a major stand around the worlds beaches and waterways. There are many opinions and much product available to the new SUP rider. We are keen and experienced paddlers and want to put some logical advice forward in this section.
Stand up boards look and are very big, this is for a good reason. A 10' SUP is the equivalent of learning to surf on a 6'0" thruster. Even if you have good surfing ability,volume is key!!!. All the longboard house staff are keen SUP surfers and are available to talk you through our extensive selection of SUP boards that we have on display in our newquay shop. We reccommend a structured evolution approach to board selection, and would suggest all new SUP riders take advantage of our flat water introductory lesson, which will guide you through paddling techniques, turns, safety , and finaly, equipment selection. Making sure you have the correct board for maximum progression in the surf/ flat water stadium. We also have a fairly extensive range of hire/demo boards. This clear epoxy over styrofoam 9'6" 5 fin fish, has the true look of a custom board and at 30" wide has the volume to support a 16 stone competent rider. Its multi adaptable fin config will allow great self tuning as either a single fin, twin, thruster, quad or 5 fin.
With its relatively flat deck, full rail, tail v and slightly increased nose rocker with concave makes this little fish a real high performance charger. Rides the nose great too!

The JL 10' SUB

The JL 10' is Jimmy's latest high performance standup creation. Ideal for smaller or more advanced riders, this board will also handle bigger waves with ease. Featuring a very similar flat bottom and turned down rails to the 11', but with a more curved template with narrower tail and nose. This board is extremely maneuverable, surfing waves more like a shortboard than the longboard styled Standup boards . The 10' features a 2 + 1 tri fin set up to produce a board with a very “drivey” feel and performance down the line. The JL 10' is perfectly suited for experienced waveriders 180lbs and lighter, or for any level rider 160 lbs and lighter in a wide variety of conditions from flat water to waves. Lightweights, women and kids, this should be the board you get on from the start due to its ease of paddling, turning and handling.

The JL 11' SUB

This a dedicated standup shape featuring reduced length and increased width to provide maneuverability and stability in an all around standup design. The JL 11' features a flat bottom and down turned rail shape to increase stability in choppy conditions. At 30” wide, this design is very easy to balance, paddle and catch waves on. This width combined with a flat bottom and down turned rail produce a shape that is both forgiving to ride and maneuverable and fast when the waves pick up. The JL 11' also features a reduced thickness, which makes it easier to press the rail into the water when turning.
